I spent many years working with Glenn early in my career with United Way in Tampa Bay. His leadership skills were a great benefit to the Boys & Girls Clubs and the community, in general. Glenn is a true professional, a caring person, a great thinker, and a wonderful friend. When you work with Glenn, you always know where you stand and you always feel that whatever the task at hand...you have a partner. I would highly encourage leaders who want to excel in these interesting and difficult times to consider inviting Glenn to your team. You won't be disappointed.

If you are looking for a person to help guide you personally or guide your company in the areas of organizational development and advancement, then I would strongly encourage you to consider Glenn Permuy. As a Boys and Girls Club Board member (including past Chair), I have worked with Glenn for more than 30 years, so I have first hand insight into his unique and very effective leadership skills. First and foremost, Glenn is a person with a big heart and he is a genuinely nice person and he cares about what he does, his fellow workers and the community. Glenn is the real deal; nothing superficial, a person of integrity and honesty. Over the years when Glenn was President of the B&G club in Tampa Bay, and then when he was selected for a senior officer position at B&G Clubs of America, I observed first hand how Glenn can inspire others to act to really make a difference. His organizational skills are quite amazing and these skills would always result in optimum outcomes. If you want to get something done on time and done extremely well, then Glenn is the guy who knows how to make that happen. With over 30 years himself in leading and getting results in this fashion, just think about the insight that Glenn can bring to you and your organization. As a President/ CEO myself, I appreciate these unique qualities, and I strongly encourage you to consider Glenn to help you, as he has certainly helped me over the years.

Glenn was the first person I met from the West Tampa Boys Club and he was my first basketball coach. Initially I couldn’t figure out if I was as good as our team record or if Glenn was a great basketball coach. Ultimately I realized that he was one of the best coaches in the City of Tampa. I noted then that one of Glenn’s strength was his organizational skills for you see he organized and ran all the games in the games room and gym at the Club. He ultimately became the Program Director. Whenever we would cross paths, Glenn would always have some constructive advice. This initial interaction with Glenn helped me build a good foundation to begin building the rest of my life. That was many years ago and I have grown to appreciate the mentoring and the way he would organize practice, events and programs. Over the years Glenn and I have developed a real friendship. When I look back, I realize he was a little ahead of his time with his creativeness in developing programs and his organizational skills. His organization created an environment in which we could learn and understand activities in a cohesive fashion and one in which we would stay focused on the objective at hand. I find my self at times mimicking some of the things he did even today, many years later. It was like having a personal coach.

I’ve known Glenn Permuy for over 30 years and had the privilege of working for him while going to college. I witnessed how he turned an organization on the verge of bankruptcy in to one of the premier Boys & Girls Clubs in America adding 13 new sites in 20 years, increasing membership by 400%, and increasing the annual operating budget from $350,000 to over $4 million. Glenn has devoted his career to youth and non-profit organization development. He is the ultimate executive… organized, prepared and devoted to any venture he takes on.

Fred is a man with high character and great commitment towards service to others and the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs. He has always demonstrated to me his passion for helping others, as well as a wealth of knowledge in navigating business and the complexities of the non-profit world. His many years of experience were invaluable to me in providing guidance with common areas of non-profit management such as board development, resource development, professional development, human resources, strategic planning, and many more.

Hank Hill,

CEO, Boys & Girls Club of Bay County Florida

Fred’s consultation with our organization helped create needed vision alignment, strategic goals, and measurable outcomes that our entire team believes in and is working together to achieve. By bringing our volunteer Board and our staff into strategic alignment, we have been able to accomplish more, providing higher quality service to our youth.

Michelle Davis,

CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia

I had the pleasure of interacting with Fred over many years and I “always” appreciated his input and wisdom when it came to the Club and to kids.  He is one of the few that I always felt we needed to listen to when he spoke.  He doesn’t grandstand.  He speaks the truth with a heart that looks out for what is best for our Club and its kids.

Mitchell Weinstein,

Partner Acentria Insurance

Board Member

Fred has a unique ability to distill a message from an owner, board, or senior management of a large organization, in a way that makes it actionable on the front lines.  One of the most unique characteristics that Fred possesses, which is extremely rare in leadership, is that he is equally tough and kind. Most of us have seen how those engaging in behavior featuring the former, can be mean-spirited, while those favoring the latter can be taken advantage of.  The combination is incredibly effective!

CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Polk County
